Project Description

Girls on the Run (GOTR) of the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex inspires ALL girls to build confidence and make intentional decisions, while fostering care and compassion for self and others. Trained coaches use physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life.Girls face social pressures and conflicting messages about how they should act and who they should be. Stressors related to COVID-19 have undoubtedly affected girls, between social isolation, anxiety and more limited opportunities for physical activity. Girls need us now more than ever.

GOTR DFW currently provides an after school programs for 3-5th grade girls and 6-8th grade girls. They have junior coaches working side by side with head coaches as well as interns from high school and colleges working with staff for experience in nonprofit organizations. GOTR goal is to reach as many girls as possible and let them feel they have a safe place to be accepted for who they are.
