WELLNESS STARTS NOW: SUPPORTING YOUTH & THE ADULTS WHO GUIDE THEM
August marks more than the end of Summer, it’s a call to action. During National Wellness Month, Texas youth are embracing self-care, building resilience, and shaping a healthier future, starting today.
At the Texas Youth Action Network (TYAN), we believe wellness is more than just avoiding illness—it’s about thriving. This National Wellness Month, we’re highlighting how young people across Texas are cultivating mental, emotional, and physical well-being, and how adults can support them in building lifelong habits for health.
What Is Wellness, Really?
Wellness is a holistic pursuit—an active process of making choices that lead to a fulfilling life. For youth, this means navigating academic pressures, social dynamics, and personal growth in an ever-changing world. Prioritizing wellness during these formative years builds essential life skills and a strong foundation for future success.
According to the Wellness Alliance (2025), key attributes of wellness include:
• Health
• Meaning
• Safety
• Connection
• Achievement
• Growth
• Resiliency
