Hi everyone! I’m Emily. I oversee all elements of the program and lead the group of amazingly talented individuals on this team. I work closely with the Department of State Health Services State Adolescent Health Coordinator to shape the program to be an effective tool in addressing adolescent health issues. I am often asked to represent our program at conferences and meetings and am the liaison between TYAN and external partners.

Two things. I love getting to build and implement a program that can be flexible and responsive to the organizations and communities we work with. We are entrusted and encouraged to tailor supports and activities to best serve our stakeholders in Texas. Second, early on in TYAN, we recognized that the program can have a greater impact on adolescent health if we worked with organizations across the state instead of tackling everything as a singular organization. It is continuously awe-inspiring to see the passion, enthusiasm, and creativity that drives individuals to work with youth and help them grow.

I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas – birthplace of Whataburger! But I have been in College Station for over 15 years now so its feels like a second home. I have a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s in Public Health from Texas A&M. I also obtained a PhD in Health Services Research from Texas A&M. Gig ‘em x3!

I love all things Whataburger and dark chocolate and I am the reigning champion of “Best Side Dish” for my crab tarts at the office charity bake-off. My free time is all about hanging out with my kids. My daughter is an arts and crafts machine and my son turns everything into a game.
